Civil Litigation

Tung Law Office > Civil Litigation

Civil Litigation Matters:

Civil litigation is when two or more parties become embroiled in a legal dispute seeking money or other specific rewards rather than criminal sanctions. Parties involved in civil litigation need to go to trial so that a judge or jury can make a decision regarding the matter.

A lawyer who specializes in civil litigation is known as a litigator or trial lawyer.

A litigator/trial lawyer represents clients across a broad spectrum of associated proceedings, including pre-trial hearings, depositions, arbitration and/or mediation before administrative agencies or in court.

Arbitration and mediation are processes that attempt to guide the parties toward settlement without the time and expense of going to court.

Civil litigation encompasses a broad range of disputes. Most litigators generally specialize in one or two specific areas. Common areas include:

  • Immigration Appeals
  • Administrative Tribunals
  • Landlord/tenant disputes
  • Personal injury claims
  • Intellectual property disputes
  • Construction liability lawsuits
  • Employment and labor disputes
  • Real estate lawsuits
  • Uncontested Divorce lawsuits
